Hewlett-Packard’s LoadRunner, formerly known as Mercury LoadRunner, is a performance and load testing toolset. It supports Web (HTTP), WebServices, RTE, CTLib, DBLib, Siebel, PeopleSoft, Oracle NCA, Winsock, Java, Visual Basic, and COM/DCOM protocols. It contains three separate tools. First, a Virtual User Generator is used to record the test. Afterwards, the test engineer can modify the test through parameterization (selecting data for keyword-driven testing), correlation (the method for handling dynamic content), and error handling. Second, the Controller is used to run test scripts, using the various chosen machines, called Load Generators, and simulating as many as several thousand users. To view the performance of individual components under load, monitors, such as Oracle or WebSphere monitors may be used. However, the extensive Analysis tool is for to viewing graphs, reading reports, saving results in multiple formats, and adjusting graphs as needed.
Automation Excellence has logged over 11 years of enterprise level experience with LoadRunner. In addition, AE specializes in creating custom monitoring solutions using SiteScope and integrating its capabilities with LoadRunner. AE has also ported several open source tools to run in LoadRunner under the licensed protocol owned by our clients. This tool will remain a hefty testing tool for a long time to come.
